International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025

Each year, International Day of Persons with Disabilities is recognized on December 3, a day for celebration and reflection. It’s an opportunity to promote the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities and to recognize the political, social, economic and cultural contributions of disabled people.

As we mark this day, the City reaffirms its commitment to the long-term work of creating an inclusive and accessible community where everyone can participate, contribute, belong and thrive.

To support ongoing learning and conversation, we’re also collaborating with Waterloo Public Library on a free screening of Crip Camp (2020), an Oscar-nominated documentary about a summer camp for disabled teenagers that helped launch the disability rights movement.

Register for the free screening taking place on Dec 4.
