Mayor and senior leaders bring the City of Waterloo perspective to Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference

Representatives from the City of Waterloo will attend the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa from August 16 through August 19, 2026. The AMO Conference provides an important opportunity for City of Waterloo officials and senior leaders to meet with provincial decision-makers to advocate for local priorities. 

Lead by mayor Dorothy McCabe, the delegation will advocate for Waterloo’s top priorities and ensure the city’s perspective helps inform provincial decision making on the issues that matter most to those who live, work and learn in Waterloo. The City of Waterloo priorities for discussion at the conference include advocating for:

• Waterloo Region’s new hospital, and the provincial funding commitments required to advance and complete this critical community project
• Reliable and consistent funding for municipal infrastructure projects
• Municipal fiscal review for sustainable, predictable funding solutions

City of Waterloo officials and senior leaders look forward to several days of meetings, advocacy and discussion with provincial and Indigenous community representatives, as well as representatives from other municipalities across Ontario.
