Mayor Jaworsky selects his Council for the Day

After reviewing dozens of submissions for the Council for the Day contest, Mayor Jaworsky has selected eight Grade 5 students to spend a day with him next month.

“In the past we’ve implemented Waterloo Exercise Day, One for Waterloo Day, Plant a Tree Day, and Waterloo Art Day,” says Mayor Jaworsky. “Our Grade 5 students are exceptionally bright, and their ideas help make life better in Waterloo. I look forward to sharing this year’s group of winning ideas with the community.”

The following students make up Mayor Jaworsky’s 2019 Council for the Day:

  • Mayor Elspeth Lina Forde, from Laurelwood Public School;
  • Ward 1 Councillor Zane McKinnon, from Westvale Public School;
  • Ward 2 Councillor Maia Lynch, from St. Nicholas Catholic School;
  • Ward 3 Councillor Alyssa Ruth Singaraja, from Northlake Woods Public School;
  • Ward 4 Councillor Lindsay Sothern, from St. Luke Catholic School;
  • Ward 5 Councillor Brydon Keithlin, from Lexington Public School;
  • Ward 6 Councillor Rhys Danielczak, from Empire Public School; and
  • Ward 7 Councillor Hazel Finnigan, from Elizabeth Ziegler Public School.

The group will accompany Mayor Jaworsky at the State of the City next month, and will share their winning ideas during his address.
