Moses Springer Park - upcoming trail and playground construction

On or about May 6, 2019, construction will be taking place at Moses Springer Park. The purpose of the work is to alleviate drainage issues that have created nuisance ponding in the summer and safety (i.e. icing) hazards in the winter. The project involves the reconstruction of the Waterloop Trail and replacement of the playground equipment within the park. As part of the project, the trail will be re-aligned, the playground area will be relocated slightly, and improvements will be made to localized grading and drainage. The existing playground equipment will be removed at the start of the project and new playground equipment will be installed near the end of the project.

Starting on or about Monday May 6, 2019, the city’s contractor for this project, Hardscape Concrete and Interlock, will begin to mobilize equipment to the park. Construction is anticipated to last approximately three months, weather depending. During this time, the trail through the park will need to be closed. The contractor will attempt to keep certain portions of the trail open whenever possible; however, this may change from day to day and there is no guarantee that any portion of the trail will be open at any time. Detour signage will be posted for commuters using the Waterloop Trail to navigate from Marshall Street to Mackay Crescent and vice versa. Signage will also be posted indicating the routes for pedestrian and cyclists to get to the community centre. See the attached map for details. Access to the community centre will be maintained at all times via the main entrance off Lincoln Road.

The city regrets any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciates residents' patience and understanding as we work to renew infrastructure in Moses Springer Park.
