Moving forward. Help us define Waterloo's priorities for the next four years.

(Waterloo, Ont. – Nov. 28, 2018) The City of Waterloo is developing a new strategic plan for 2019 to 2022 and encourages input from residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to help shape Waterloo’s future.

The city embarks on a new strategic plan every four years to coincide with each council term. The strategic plan identifies the most important priorities for the city and outlines the actions necessary to reach those goals.

Residents’ input is the cornerstone to ensuring the vision, goals and actions set out in the strategic plan reflect the needs, values and aspirations of the community to make Waterloo’s future as bright, sustainable and vibrant as possible.

To encourage community participation, a short questionnaire is available at engagewr.ca/waterloo until Dec. 21, 2018. This questionnaire can be completed by individuals, families, friends, businesses or community groups to share ideas about Waterloo’s strengths, challenges and progress.

The feedback collected from this questionnaire will inform the development of the 2019-2022 strategic plan. A summary report including findings and emerging themes and priorities will be presented to council at the end of February 2019. Then in March, a second phase of public engagement will take place to encourage the public to contribute to the final draft of the strategic plan. There will be a host of opportunities for the public to participate; stay tuned for more information in the weeks to come.

More information, including past strategic plans, project updates and engagement opportunities, is found at engagewr.ca/waterloo. The City of Waterloo strategic plan for 2019 to 2022 is scheduled to be unveiled in June 2019.
