National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026

Today, we honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the survivors, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this painful legacy.

We encourage everyone to take time to deepen their understanding of the residential school system and its lasting impacts. Reconciliation is not a single day or action. It is an ongoing commitment to building respectful relationships, advancing understanding and taking meaningful action. 

As a City, we reaffirm our commitment to this work and to supporting a community where future generations can thrive.
