Pink Shirt Day (1)
City Statement: Pink Shirt Day
Today we recognize Pink Shirt Day, and join in the efforts to raise awareness about the problem of bullying in our schools, workplaces and online. In 2007, two high school students in Nova Scotia witnessed another student being bullied for wearing pink. They responded by encouraging everyone at their school to wear pink in solidarity with the student who was bullied.
This movement to take action against bullying has spread across Canada and around the world. Let’s work together today and every day to create a community where all people are treated with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect.
