Pride Month (1)

As Pride celebrations begin across Waterloo, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing an inclusive city where all residents have equal opportunities and benefits. We recognize and celebrate Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer, or 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Waterloo and beyond.

Pride is celebrated in June to honour the first large-scale protests for 2SLGBTQ+ rights in 1969 — a pivotal moment 56 years ago. While meaningful progress has been made, there is still work to do to ensure everyone can live openly and authentically, free from discrimination and prejudice.

This month and every month, let’s be a community where everyone feels safe, valued and loved.

Happy Pride!
