Public information centre: Trillium Valley Park - stormwater management pond clean-out and retrofit
Notice of commencement and public information centre
The Project
The City of Waterloo is carrying out a retrofit and cleanout of three stormwater management facilities (ponds), located within Trillium Valley Park in the City of Waterloo – Pond 28, Pond 10, and Pond 48. Excess sediment buildup will be removed from each pond. Additionally, a retrofit of each pond will be undertaken to bring it towards a more modern standard. Works at Ponds 10 and 28 will generally preserve the existing character of the ponds, however the works at Pond 48 are more complex and require further study.
The Process
The project is being planned in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class EA document, which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Ponds 10 and 28 are being undertaken as a Schedule ‘A+’ project, which are assumed to be pre-approved, and requires public notification. Pond 48 is being planned as a Schedule ‘B’ project, which involves a greater degree of study and public consultation, including a PIC meeting to present the project to the public and seek input on the identified preferred solution.
Public Information Centre
This public information centre will follow an open house format with information on display to present the identified preferred alternative solution for Pond 48.
