Red Dress Day 2026

Red Dress Day was inspired by Métis artist Jamie Black’s REDress Project installation, where she hung empty, red dresses to represent the missing and murdered women.

On May 5, we remember and honour the many missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people who have been violently taken from their families and communities.

As a city, we continue the work of reconciliation so that Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people can experience the dignity, respect and safety they deserve.

We encourage everyone to attend the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples walk hosted by The Healing of the Seven Generations, taking place on May 5, 2026, at 10 a.m.
