Remembering our London family

Today we remember Yumnah Afzaal, her mother Madia Salman, her grandmother Talat Afzaal and her father, Salman Afzaal, who were tragically killed 5 years ago while out for a walk in London, Ontario. We also remember their young brother, son and grandson who were seriously injured but survived. This painful anniversary is a reminder of the dangers of Islamophobia as well as the racism, hatred and violence that our Muslim neighbours continue to face.

As a City, we reaffirm our commitment to join with Muslim communities in the face of hate, and to challenge racism and discrimination in all its forms.
