Safety reminders: don’t hold garage sales, observe physical distancing when out in parks and trails
With warm temperatures expected this weekend, the city has two important safety reminders - don’t stage garage sales and and follow new trail markers when out for physical activity.
The trail markers have been placed on asphalt trails, along with signage throughout parks and trails to remind people of the need to remain at least six feet apart from people who do not live in the same household. In addition, while walks are permitted in city parks and trails, they should only be used as a walk through – no one should be gathering to socialize, play catch or any other sport. Walks should also be limited to people with whom residents share a household and should only happen in your neghbourhood park – don’t drive to a different destination. If you’re sick, stay home and if you cough or sneeze, please do so into your elbow.
Warmer spring temperatures often trigger garage sales, however, in keeping with provincial directives to not have gatherings of more than five people, the need to observe physical distancing and to not gather with people from outside your own household, garage sales should not be held until restrictions are lifted by the province.
