Show Me The City – Stories of Waterloo Park

Friends of Waterloo Park, working together with the City of Waterloo and the City of Waterloo Museum, invite you to participate in an in-person or virtual tour of Waterloo Park.

Often called "the jewel of the city", Waterloo Park features 111 acres of prime parkland, with a number of amenities that our community enjoys year-round.

The Stories of Waterloo Park tour provides fun and interesting historical stories of different areas and features of the park.

Drop by the Visitor and Heritage Information Centre to grab a printed map of all the tour stops. There are 24 stops along the way; each location is marked by a sign with a QR code that you can scan with your mobile device to get additional information about that location.

The virtual tour is located at waterloo.ca/park-stories and each tour stop is marked with a pin.

The information we share through this activity is a one sided story built from current archival sources know by city staff and volunteers. These stories are only small pieces of information and do not encompass all aspects of the history of this land. Over time, it is our intention to learn and grow so we can understand a more full and inclusive story of the past and share these stories. To understand all stories we must go through a proper and meaningful process to ensure all knowledge holders and storytellers have had an opportunity to participate in this discussion process.

We hope you enjoy the tour!
