Statement from Mayor McCabe on OBCM ‘Solve the Crisis’ campaign
This morning, City of Waterloo Mayor Dorothy McCabe was at Queen’s Park to support the launch of Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM) ‘Solve the Crisis’ campaign. The ‘Solve the Crisis’ campaign is a culmination of years of advocacy from Ontario’s Big City Mayors on the mental health, addictions and homelessness crisis across Ontario.
“Municipalities are doing everything that we can to address the homelessness and mental health crisis we are all facing,” said Mayor McCabe. “There are people in our community who need support, including a vastly underestimated number of women, girls and gender diverse peoples experiencing homelessness. We urgently need the provincial and federal governments to provide the resources required for this united effort. I want to thank OBCM for their continued advocacy and leadership in supporting the push for resources and solutions to this humanitarian crisis.”
