Waterloo Art Market series kicks off summer events season in uptown Waterloo
The City of Waterloo is welcoming the return of outdoor events and invites community members to attend the first Art Market of the season on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Waterloo Public Square.
Taking place on select dates from May through August, the Art Market brings together more than 100 local artists, crafters and makers, offering a wide selection of handmade goods alongside live performances by local musicians.
By creating space for independent creators and small businesses to showcase and sell their work, the Art Market series supports local artists while encouraging residents to shop locally.
“The Art Market is a celebration of Waterloo’s creativity, talent and entrepreneurial spirit,” said Justin McFadden, Executive Director of Economic Development. “It’s an easy way to support local, support Waterloo and connect with the people behind the products.”
Through events like the Art Market, the City continues to foster civic pride and economic resilience, highlighting Waterloo as a community that values creativity and a diversified economy.
The Art Market is part of a broader lineup of free, outdoor summer events, including Movies in the Park, Dance it Off Tuesday, Open Streets, the July 1 Community Picnic and Day of Play. All the events are delivered by Create Waterloo, the City of Waterloo’s arts and creative industries team and are designed to support community connections through accessible arts, culture and public spaces that contribute to a high quality of life for all.
