Waterloo now accepting neighbourhood matching fund applications

The City of Waterloo is pleased to provide advance notice of upcoming deadlines for neighbourhood matching fund requests.

Three closing dates are available for residents to submit applications. With three dates to consider, groups have plenty of time to plan their projects without the pressure of hasty deadlines.

The closing dates for 2020 are:

  • Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 before 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 3, 2020 before 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 before 2 p.m.

Applicants can expect a response within 3 – 4 weeks after the closing date.

Who can apply?

Any two or more neighbours can submit any project or event that builds neighbourhood connections. Requests must demonstrate strong support from the neighbourhood and the requested funds – up to $7,500 – must be matched with volunteer labour, donated professional services, materials/supplies or cash.

How can you use these funds?

This is a great opportunity to fund projects large and small – community gardens, playgrounds, murals, winter carnivals, outdoor rinks, neighbourhood events and more!

How do you get started?

Visit waterloo.ca/neighbourhoods for all the details. Contact City of Waterloo staff anytime to talk about your idea, ask questions or get help completing the application. Please call Julie Legg, coordinator, neighbourhoods at 519-886-1177or email neighbourhoods@waterloo.ca

The neighbourhood matching fund is a grant program that supports grassroots neighbourhood place-making. It is funded by the City of Waterloo, Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation and United Way Waterloo Region Communities. This partnership allows residents and community groups the opportunity to facilitate community-initiated projects.
