Waterloo now accepting neighbourhood matching fund applications (1)

(Waterloo, Ont. – Jan. 29, 2019) The City of Waterloo is pleased to provide advance notice of upcoming deadlines for neighbourhood matching fund requests.

Two specific timeframes have been designated to review and approve applications. The designated periods for 2019 are:

Submission deadline

Notification date

Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 before 2 p.m.

Thursday, March 28, 2019

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 before 2 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019

Any two or more neighbours can submit any project or event that builds neighbourhood connections. Requests must demonstrate strong support from the neighbourhood and the requested funds – up to $7,500 – must be matched with volunteer labour, donated professional services or materials/supplies or cash.

This is a great opportunity to fund projects large and small – community gardens, playgrounds, murals, neighbourhood events and more! With two closing dates to consider, groups have plenty of time to plan their projects without the pressure of hasty deadlines.

City of Waterloo staff are available to chat and answer questions at any time. Please call Julie Legg, coordinator, neighbourhoods at 519-886-1177, ext. 27253 or email neighbourhoods@waterloo.ca if you have questions or need help completing the application.

The neighbourhood matching fund is a grant program that supports grassroots neighbourhood place-making. It is funded by the City of Waterloo and the United Way Waterloo Region Communities. This partnership allows residents and community groups the opportunity to facilitate community-initiated projects.
