Waterloo Public Square ice rink opens Friday
The City of Waterloo is pleased to announce that the skating rink at Waterloo Public Square will open Friday, December 4, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The rink will be open seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with additional restrictions in place based on our community’s placement on the COVID-19 provincial response framework.
Residents are asked to respect and follow the applicable COVID-19 protocols, which include:
- maintain a minimum 2 metres of physical distancing on and off the ice surface;
- maximum capacity limit of 25 people while Waterloo is in the Red-Control category; and
- read and follow all rules posted on signs at the rink, as protocols are subject to change throughout the season.
The rink will be open for recreational skating only. There are no sticks or pucks permitted, and no scrimmages or games allowed. We ask that all users please be mindful of the time, and considerate of others who may be waiting to skate, once the rink is at capacity. Security will be rotating through the square during peak times to monitor patrons.
Please be aware that there are no washrooms available, and no onsite skate rentals.
We encourage all our residents to find safe ways to enjoy recreation outdoors, to be active and have fun while observing public health guidelines.
Plans to open additional outdoor neighbourhood rinks around the city continue, subject to mother nature’s cooperation.
