Waterloo wants to know: why do you participate (or not) in our recreation programs?

The City of Waterloo is looking for feedback from residents who participate in our recreation and leisure programs…and those who don’t! The City’s Community Services team is surveying residents through Engage Waterloo (www.engagewr.ca/waterloo-recreation-programs) to learn more about why people may or may not participate in City programs, how and when they would like to see programs offered, and to find out all we can to help us make our programs welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

“We’ve made some changes to programs recently, based on an internal review on programming, the expansion of the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex, and as we reopened our facilities from pandemic closures,” said Andrea Vincent, Manager of Recreation Facility Programming. “We’d like to know what current users think of our programming, get additional feedback from both users and non-users on what might appeal to all ages and all community members, and find out how they would like to see those programs offered: the time of day, length of the program, and preferred locations”.

The survey is open through March 8, 2023. Feedback from the community will help the City team offer programming which reflects the diverse interests and needs of Waterloo residents. This compliments the work being done on the City’s Internal Community Spaces project, which asked for feedback on making recreation facilities more usable, welcoming, inclusive and environmentally friendly.
