Join our city-led Earth Day Community Clean-up

Each year, the city hosts an Earth Day Community Clean-up event where community members work together to collect litter in Waterloo Park.

Event details:

  • April 25, 2026
  • 10 a.m. to noon in Waterloo Park East
  • help clean up litter in the park, take part in a hands-on activity where you can bring home a sunflower to plant, and learn more ways to care for the environment in Waterloo
  • supplies and refreshments available at the Log School House
  • review our roles and safety guidelines for details on what to wear and how to carry out a safe and successful clean-up

View our community calendar for more details.

Drops-in are welcome but you will have to register and sign the waiver when you arrive. In the event of severe weather (heavy rain or wind, or thunderstorms), this event will be cancelled.

Organize your own clean-up

Check with your Neighbourhood Association and the community events calendar to see if a clean-up is already happening in a park near you.

Or you can organize your own clean-up:

  1. Choose a date and time between April 22 and April 30, 2026.
  2. Use our parks directory page to choose a city owned park.
  3. Review roles and safety guidelines.
  4. Use the online form to register your clean up activity starting March 1, 2026 to April 16, 2026.

Register your own activity by April 16

After you register, you will receive an email with clear instructions for the clean-up.

Review roles and safety guidelines
