Get a temporary on-street parking permit

Request a short-term permit to park on the street if your driveway is blocked by non-city construction or repairs.

Permits aren’t available if you simply need more parking spaces.

You may qualify for a temporary permit if your driveway is blocked by construction or repairs not related to the city.

Apply for a permit

Apply in advance so we have time to review your request:

• 5 business days for a full road closure
• 3 business days for a lane, sidewalk or multi-use path closure

Email traffic@waterloo.ca with:

• your full name
• the type of work blocking your driveway
• your vehicle’s make, model and licence plate number

Winter restrictions
We may not issue permits during the winter because of snow clearing needs. 

Pick up your permit

Pick up and pay for your permit at the Waterloo Service Centre:

• 265 Lexington Court
• open Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Pay fees

Payment is in person only:

• pay by cash, debit or cheque – payable to the City of Waterloo
• we don't accept credit cards

Prices do not include HST.
