Apply for a high water bill credit
You can apply for financial relief if you receive an unusually high water bill caused by a plumbing leak inside your home.
How it works
If approved, the water bill credit will:
- be available only once every 10 years per property
- be capped at $2,000
- cover 50% of water use above your 12-month average
- apply to one bill only

Check if you qualify
You may qualify if you:
- live in a low-density residential home
- had a water leak inside the property
- used at least 3 times your 12-month average water consumption
- have no evidence of tampering with the city’s water meter
You do not qualify if:
- the property is industrial, commercial, institutional or multi-residential
- the property was vacant or unattended when the leak occurred
- high water use was from a pool, hot tub, rink, irrigation, or other legitimate purpose
Apply within 90 days
You must apply within 90 days of receiving the high water bill.
