Dispute a parking or bylaw ticket
If you disagree with a parking or bylaw ticket, you have 30 days to ask the city to review it. This first step is called a screening review.
On this page:
Request a screening review
You must request a screening review within 30 days of getting the ticket. Before you start:
- do not pay the ticket if you're requesting a review
- no late fees will be added while you wait
- wait times can be up to 16 weeks
- you will get a confirmation email when you submit your request
You will receive the decision by email, mail or in person.
Request a hearing
If you disagree with the screening decision, you can request a hearing. You must request a hearing within 30 days of receiving your screening decision.
Important hearing info:
- hearings can be in person or online
- hearing officers are independent, third-party arbitrators
- hearings happen once a month
- if you miss your hearing, we will charge you a fee
- hearing decisions are final
Request city documents
If you're disputing a ticket, you can ask for related documents:
- fill out the request for disclosure form
- submit the form at least 10 days before your hearing
- you must have an active dispute
If you are not disputing a ticket, you must submit a Freedom of Information Request to access city documents.
