Attend the Neighbourhood Summit

The Neighbourhood Summit is an annual event for residents across Waterloo to learn, share ideas and talk about neighbourhoods.

We had a great event on November 5. Check back for details about next year’s summit.

Connect and learn with neighbours

Join workshops, enjoy presentations, meet other neighbours and explore community building resources.

Whether you are new to neighbourhood activities or part of an established group or association, there is plenty to talk about and learn.

Subscribe to the neighbourhoods newsletter for updates.

Event information

We offer onsite childcare for children aged 4 and up at the event. Register in advance.

Make sure your child is ready to participate in this childcare by confidently answering “yes” to these questions:

  • can your child follow instructions from staff and join planned activities?
  • can your child do daily tasks, such as using the bathroom, without a guardian and without regular accidents?
  • does your child feel comfortable being in a group, to the best of their ability?
  • can your child participate in a way that is safe for themselves and others?

If your child is under 4, or you answer “no” to any of these items, email neighbourhoods@waterloo.ca to talk about childcare options that may better meet your family’s needs.

The summit takes place at the Community Pavilion at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.

Free parking is available onsite.

Transit support may be available each year. We share details each year when registration opens.

The Community Pavilion connects to the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex at 101 Father David Bauer Drive.

The summit takes place on the second floor, which you can reach by stairs or elevator.

The space has fluorescent lights, large windows and may be loud at times. Staff and signs help guide you.

We also provide a quiet, scent-free room on the first floor if you need a break from the main event.

The summit runs for about 2 hours in the evening.

A typical event includes:

  • arrival, check-in and light snacks
  • speakers from local organizations
  • time to meet neighbours and visit information booths
  • a craft activity

Attendees may request accommodations and interpretation services in advance when registering for the event.
