Update your water account

Open, close or change your water account when you move, change tenants or need to change billing details. Property owners and tenants have different options. 

We need at least 4 business days notice for changes.

Update your water account online

Choose this option if you prefer to use online forms.

Property owners

Open, close or change account details, such as billing information.

Tenants

Close or change account details.

You'll need this information to complete the online form:

  • water online account codes
  • property street address in Waterloo
  • new mailing address
  • name(s) of the property owner(s)
  • phone number and email that we can use to reach you

If a company or corporation owns the property, also include:

  • a copy of your Articles of Incorporation or Property Management Agreement

If you're not the property owner, also include:

  • a letter of authorization from the owner 

Contact us at least 4 business days before your closing or lease end date by email at revenue@waterloo.ca, or in person at City Hall during business hours.

We send final water bills by mail and require a mailing address.

  • current Waterloo water account number
  • legal closing date
  • mailing address for your final bill
  • phone number and email

Tenants should provide:

  • current Waterloo water account number
  • lease end date
  • mailing address for your final bill
  • phone number and email

Update account by phone, email, fax or in person

Property owners

Contact us at least 4 business days before your closing date at 519-747-8718, by email at revenue@waterloo.ca, or in person at City Hall during business hours.

Provide:

  • full name(s)
  • service address
  • legal possession date
  • lawyer’s name and phone number
  • any existing Waterloo water accounts (if moving within Waterloo)
  • your phone number and email
  • mailing address (if different from service address)

Tenants

Complete a tenant form (PDF).

Submit it at least 2 weeks before your lease starts by email to revenue@waterloo.ca, by fax to 519-747-8760, or in person at City Hall during business hours.

To change your mailing address:
