You still need a permit, but there’s no fee, if your hot tub or swim spa has a lockable lid that meets ASTM Standard F1346-91.
The lid must stay locked when the hot tub or swim spa is not in use.

The fee is $265.66 (HST is included) for pools and hot tubs without lockable lids.
There is no fee for hot tubs with qualifying lockable lids.
Once your enclosure is built, but before filling the pool or hot tub call 519-747-8785 or email municipalenforcement@waterloo.ca to book an inspection.
Once your enclosure passes inspection, you may fill the pool or hot tub. Keep a copy of your permit and inspection record for your files.
