Pay your parking or bylaw ticket online, by mail or in person. Late fees apply after 30 days.

Pay your ticket

Parking ticket

You will need:

  • licence plate number
  • penalty notice number – find it under the barcode or in the top right corner

Bylaw ticket

You will need:

  • name or business name
  • ticket number – start with an “E” and appears under the barcode

When paying online, remember:

  • tickets may take up to 15 days to appear online
  • late fees start 30 days after your ticket was issued
  • you can only use Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit cards
    • we do not accept debit, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard for online payments
  • unpaid tickets may be sent to Service Ontario for collection

Pay your ticket online

Your ticket isn't in the system yet
It can take up to 15 days for a ticket to appear online. If no results are found for your ticket number, please check back later. Late fees won’t apply until 30 days after the ticket was issued. 

You tried to pay with a debit card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard
You can only use a traditional credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express) to pay your ticket online.

You entered the wrong information
Double-check that your ticket number and licence plate are correct. Contact us if you're not sure.

You got a Speed Camera or Red Light ticket
These are issued by the Region of Waterloo and must be paid on the Region’s website.

You chose the wrong ticket type
There are three options when paying online:

  • Parking Ticket
  • Personal Ticket (for bylaw tickets issued to individuals)
  • Business Ticket (for bylaw tickets issued to businesses)

Personal and Business tickets are both for bylaw-related fines such as noise, licensing, lot maintenance, etc.

To pay a ticket in person visit the Municipal Enforcement Services desk at City Hall.

You can pay with:

  • debit card
  • Debit Visa or Debit Mastercard
  • Visa or Mastercard
  • cash
  • cheque or money order

Note: We do not accept American Express in person.

You can pay by cheque or money order (made payable to the City of Waterloo).

Find a lost ticket

Contact us if you can’t find your ticket. Remember to include:

  • your licence plate number for parking tickets
  • your full name or business name for bylaw tickets

Dispute a ticket

If you disagree with a ticket, you can ask the city to review it. This is called a screening review.

You must request a screening review within 30 days of getting the ticket. Go to the Dispute a ticket page to start your request.


Request more time

If you need more than 30 days to dispute or pay your ticket, contact us. Extensions are only granted in extenuating circumstances.
