Invite a member of Waterloo City Council to your event, request a milestone certificate, or ask for city lapel pins.
Submit your request at least 3 weeks before your event or celebration.

Invite the mayor or council to an event
If you’d like the mayor or a member of council to attend your event, include the following in your request:
- event name, date, time and location
- role requested – remarks, ribbon cutting or attendance only
- organization information and event purpose
- whether the acting mayor can attend if the mayor is unavailable
- contact information
Let us know if a parking pass is required.
We’ll contact you to confirm attendance or extend regrets.
Request a certificate
Request a certificate to recognize a milestone such as a birthday, anniversary, retirement, grand opening or community achievement.
Include:
- type of occasion – birthday, anniversary, etc.
- name of recipient(s)
- date of occasion
- address for mailing or pickup
- your contact information
Certificates are for recognition only and do not represent a civic endorsement.
Request City of Waterloo lapel pins
If your community group, sports team or organization would like to hand out City of Waterloo pins, please include:
- your organization’s name and contact information
- the event name and purpose
- the number of pins requested
You can request up to 200 pins (subject to availability) — they must be picked up at City Hall.
