When to request an inspection

You must request a demolition inspection before removing or demolishing any building.

This inspection makes sure utilities are safely disconnected and fire hazards are controlled before demolition begins.

How to request an inspection

To request a demolition inspection:

  1. Complete the city's demolition tracking sheet (PDF) from the Demolitions page. The sheet must be signed and dated by all parties before submission.
  2. Be prepared to answer questions related to the building occupancy and a fire safety plan.
  3. Email fire@waterloo.ca with your completed sheet and any relevant details.

A fire prevention inspector will contact you to confirm your appointment.

Fee

There is no fee for a demolition inspection.
