Learn about fire prevention and emergency preparedness through Waterloo Fire Rescue.

We offer tours, presentations and visits for schools, families, seniors and community groups.

Fire education programs

We offer free public education sessions within the City of Waterloo. Choose the program that best fits your group.

Visit one of our 4 fire stations for a guided tour and safety overview:

  • fire crews remain on duty and may be called away at any time
  • participants must be at least 4 years old (junior kindergarten)
  • tours are limited to 20 people and last up to one hour

We can visit your school to give a classroom presentation or bring a fire truck for outdoor learning:

  • students must be at least 4 years old (junior kindergarten)
  • schools must have a student-to-chaperone ratio of 7:1 or lower
  • schools must be within the City of Waterloo

Invite Waterloo Fire Rescue to your community event for a safety presentation or truck visit:

  • events must take place within the City of Waterloo
  • fire crews remain on duty and may be called away at any time

Invite a fire truck to your school or event for an outdoor demonstration:

  • fire trucks must park on a surface that supports their weight – confirmed by the attending captain
  • up to 20 people can view the truck at one time – larger groups must rotate
  • each session lasts 15 to 20 minutes – multiple groups can be scheduled back to back

Complete the online request form and include:

  • your name and organization
  • phone number and email address
  • event type and preferred time slot
  • number and age of participants

Requests must be made at least 14 days in advance.

We’ll do our best to schedule your visit, but availability depends on crew schedules and emergency calls.
