Locate your water shut-off valve before paving
Some properties have a water shut-off valve under the driveway. If your valve ever needs repair, knowing its location helps us avoid damaging your driveway during future repairs.
Call before paving or repaving

Request a curb cut
Only the city can approve and complete curb cuts. Residents cannot alter curbs – we will charge you if you do.
Follow these steps to request a curb cut:
- Call 519-886-2310 to book an inspection (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- Our inspector will come to your property to review. You do not have to be at home.
- If approved, the inspector will leave a permit form with the property owner.
- Fill out the permit form and submit it in person at the Waterloo Service Centre (265 Lexington Court).
- Pay the fee:
- $145 per permit
- $155 per metre for the curb cut
- we accept cash, debit, or cheque (payable to the City of Waterloo)
- The city will arrange the work with a contractor, usually within two weeks of payment.
