Order a letter of compliance to confirm zoning, permits and any violations for a property. Choose regular or rush service.

1. Check what's included
Your letter of compliance confirms:
- current zoning and if the current use complies
- pending zoning (if applicable)
- compliance with building setbacks
- status of building and plumbing permits on file
- any zoning or property standards violations
- any heritage significance
2. Prepare documents
You must submit a separate application for each property.
Include:
- a current survey if you are requesting a zoning letter (comments are based on the survey you provide)
- a clear description of the proposed use to ensure accurate comments.
3. Apply
- Download and complete the letter of compliance application (PDF)
- Submit your form:
- in person at the IPPW counter, second floor, City Hall
- by mail to:

4. Pay fees
Processing times:
- regular service – up to 2 weeks, letter sent by mail
- rush service – email within 3 to 5 business days
