Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex

Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex (WMRC) at 101 Father David Bauer Drive is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The customer service desk opens at 8 a.m.

On the evenings of May 23 and 25, WMRC is hosting the Special Olympics Ontario Spring Games opening and closing ceremonies. Expect heavy traffic in the area. Consider wheeling, walking, using public transit, carpooling and parking in nearby uptown lots.

Rentals

Most spaces in WMRC are available for rent. From small meetings to birthday parties and banquets, the facility offers flexible spaces that can suit many needs.

Amenities

Swimplex

The indoor swimming complex (what we call the 'swimplex') has swimming pools, a diving tower, springboards, a waterslide and a splash area for children:

  • swim lanes are 20 to 22 metres in length
  • swimmers may sit or stand in the swirlpool (our warm water pool, kept at 90 to 92 degrees F)
  • male, female and universal change rooms are available

Sun Life Financial Arena 

Waterloo's largest arena has an Olympic-sized ice surface and maximum capacity of 4,400 spectators (3,400 seated). It has eight dressing rooms and two referee rooms with showers, a first aid room and a press box. 

Meeting rooms 

There are three community meeting rooms that can accommodate between 25 to 40 people. 

Indoor running track 

The indoor running track is a low impact rubber surface that runs in an oval around the arena. Visit our track page for more information on this and the smaller walking track.
Community Pavilion
The Community Pavilion is open for senior support and programming. View the senior services page for more information about the activities available and how to contact staff.

Upcoming major events

KW Siskins and Wilfrid Laurier's men's and women's hockey teams play their home games at the Sun Life Financial Arena in the WMRC.

Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex also hosts several large events that welcome visitors to Waterloo.
