RIM Park is hosting the 2024 Ontario Volleyball Championships this April. Expect heavy traffic in the area. Learn more about specific event dates, parking and detours.

RIM Park is located at 2001 University Avenue East. Open from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. The customer service desk opens at 8:30 a.m.

The Manulife Sportsplex and Healthy Living Centre is currently open for pre-booked ice, track, gym and fieldhouse activities. Find booking information below.

Drop-in programs

Programs on ActiveWaterloo

RC flyers is located in RIM Park Field House 1 and 2. The schedule is Tuesdays and Fridays (starting October 3) from 9:30 to 11:20 a.m. Register on ActiveWaterloo.

Bring your own equipment and enjoy the company of other enthusiasts! Participants must have valid Model Aeronautics Association of Canada insurance.

Indoor amenities

Rinks

RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex has four Olympic-sized ice pads (100' x 200') with 20 large dressing rooms with showers. The Piller's Rink has 500 seats and the Optimist's and Lions rinks have 250 seats.

The fourth rink, the Carolyn Fedy Skating Centre, is home to the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club, and has an attached fitness centre.

Field house

The indoor field house has grass-like turf and can be one full field or divided into three smaller fields.

Courts

There are two NBA-sized gymnasiums that divide into four single gyms. They have sprung maple floors for shock absorption and a stage, with 600 spectator seats

Meeting rooms

RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex works as a community centre offering nine meeting rooms that can accommodate 30 to 80 people.

Banquet hall

Food services

The Benchwarmer Sports Bar in an onsite, licensed restaurant that is open during peak programming times. It has a wide range of menu items and an outdoor patio during the summer.

There is also main concession stand and coffee shop for snacks and light meals. It's open during peak programming times.

Sports fields

RIM Park has two international-sized turf fields and four natural grass fields, all with lighting. Player benches, spectator seating, washroom facilities, accessible parking, and playgrounds are nearby.

Ball diamonds

The park has six baseball diamonds, three of which have lighting. Gender-neutral washrooms, spectator seating and playgrounds are nearby.

Beach volleyball court

The park has a sand beach volleyball court on the west side near diamond three.

Bike park

The RIM Park Bike Park consists of two asphalt pump tracks, one for beginners and one for intermediate and advanced riders. Bikes, scooters and skateboards are allowed on both tracks. Gender-neutral washrooms and parking are nearby.

Trails

The Walter Bean Grand River Trail runs through RIM Park for 11km. Walking and cross-country skiing are popular activities. Visit our trail map to learn more.

Rentals

Most spaces at RIM Park are available for rent. From small meetings to weddings, sports tournaments and trade shows, the facility offers flexible spaces that can suit many needs.

Upcoming major events

Ontario Volleyball Championships — April 5 to 28, 2024

Occurring every April, the Ontario Volleyball Association's Ontario Championships are the largest youth amateur volleyball event in the province.

There will be 5 events at RIM Park:

  • April 5 to 7 — 16U Girls and TLS Boys
  • April 11 to 13 — TLS Girls and 6v6 Boys
  • April 14 to 16 — 17U Girls, 16U Boys and 4v4 Boys/Co-ed
  • April 19 to 21 — 4v4 Girls, 18U Girls and 18U Boys
  • April 25 to 28 — 17U Boys
Plan ahead and arrive early

Visitors to RIM Park are encouraged to arrive early. We recommend:

  • getting a ride, carpooling, biking or using public transit
  • leave extra time to walk to your entrance from overflow parking lots
Avoid busy areas 

Traffic will be busy around University Avenue East, Millennium Boulevard and Park Road. Residents may wish to use Country Squire Road as an alternate route (see map below).
