Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget (1)The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 530, will conduct the Waterloo Remembrance Day service Thursday, November 11 beginning at 10:30 at the Cenotaph located on Regina Street near Waterloo City Centre, 100 Regina Street South.
Attendees are asked to please wear face masks, and physical distancing is encouraged.
Time to change your clocks and the batteries in all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms (1)Waterloo Fire Rescue recommends residents replace the old batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they change their clocks this weekend for the end of daylight saving time (DST).
“In order for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to work, they need to have fresh batteries,” says Fire Chief Richard Hepditch.

Ontario’s Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week runs from November 1-7, and Waterloo Fire Rescue reminds you to prevent carbon monoxide (CO) in your home by getting all fuel-burning appliances inspected annually.
“In Ontario, more than 65% of injuries and deaths from CO occur in the home,” says Fire Chief Richard Hepditch.
City Councillor named Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins) City of Waterloo Councillor Diane Freeman has become the first woman and Professional Engineer to be named as the Regimental Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel (HLCol) of the 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins). The Regiment is one of the oldest elements of the Canadian Army dating back to 1866 and in modern times has played an important role in both active deployment and domestic emergency response.

Waterloo seeks feedback to improve programming for older adults The City of Waterloo is working with consultant, Recreational Respite, to identify programming that will help improve the older adult experience in Waterloo, and both teams encourage the community to share their thoughts and ideas.
Older adults can provide feedback on the type of programs they would like to see during the safe reopening of Waterloo recreation facilities.
