To make sure the new paint doesn't get wet, and to allow enough time for the paint to set, the basketball court and splash court will be closed for 24 hours, from 7 a.

Albert McCormick Central Plaza officially opens July 16The City of Waterloo is excited to announce the opening of the Albert McCormick Central Plaza, a project in the making since 2013.
“Waterloo loves the skatepark uptown,” says Brooke Milsom, landscape technologist for the City of Waterloo and the lead on this project.
City of Waterloo moving to provincial Step 3 on FridayWith Waterloo Region moving into Step 3 of the provincial response framework on Friday, July 16, the City of Waterloo will gradually re-start recreation programs, services and amenities, as well as remove restrictions on other city services according to the guidelines and protocols.
A number of outdoor recreation programs are already underway and we will gradually ramp up further indoor program and services as of July 16.
City of Waterloo service changes in Step 2The City of Waterloo will move with the rest of the region into Step 2 of the provincial Roadmap to Reopen on Monday, July 12, 2021. Residents are reminded to continue following physical distancing and face covering recommendations, and of the general provincial gathering limits under Step 2:
Maximum 25 people for outdoor gatherings
Maximum 5 people for indoor gatherings
Other City of Waterloo changes effective Monday, July 12 in Step 2:
Passive park/picnic bookings will increase to a maximum of 25 participants, with COVID protocols in place
Outdoor sports fields and diamonds will be open for team play (including game play) with mandatory physical distancing and no contact rules in place, in addition to sport-specific COVID protocols
Outdoor sport spectators are permitted at fields and diamonds, physical distancing must be maintained and face coverings are recommended
Indoor sports facilities remain closed
The Adult Recreation Centre and Wing 404 will be open by appointment only, for registered participants attending specialized programming
Marriage ceremonies will continue to be performed by appointment only, with a maximum of ten people attending
For funerals, the graveside maximum is 75 people.
City hires first Director of Indigenous Initiatives, Anti-Racism, Accessibility and EquityThe City of Waterloo is pleased to announce the hiring of its first Director of Indigenous Initiatives, Anti-Racism, Accessibility and Equity.
Sanjay Govindaraj will join the city on August 16, following more than 20 years with the Region of Waterloo, with the last five working in Human Resources and the Chief Administrative Office as an Equity and Anti-Racism Advisor in the Equity, Inclusion and Human Rights unit.
