Waterloo courts and skatepark to open, public washroom map now availableFollowing the provincial announcement of the Roadmap to Reopen yesterday, the City of Waterloo will be ready to open tennis courts, basketball courts and the Waterloo Park skatepark effective Saturday, May 22, 2021. Park shelters and other facility rentals are not yet available.

City summer events for 2021In recognition of the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic, the City of Waterloo will be moving many of its summer community events online this year or exploring new program formats.
While there are no events planned for Victoria Day, Canada Day will feature temporary public art installations in each city ward, and will encourage small family picnics in parks throughout the city.
Emergency Preparedness Week: Be ready for anythingWaterloo Region – National Emergency Preparedness Week starts next week (May 2 to 8) and local municipalities, emergency services and utility companies are using it to ensure people living in Waterloo Region are ready for any emergency.
“As we all continue to navigate through the ever-changing landscape of this pandemic, being ready for anything has been the constant,” said Diane Schofield, Manager of Emergency Management with the Region of Waterloo.
Plenty of recreational opportunities during temporary facility closuresThere will be temporary closures in two City of Waterloo recreational facilities over the coming months to accommodate summer campers as well as expansion construction activity.
