International Non-Binary People’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate people who do not identify within the traditional gender binary while raising awareness about the struggles they face. Non-binary can mean different things to different people, so it’s important to remember that there is not one meaning or appearance of those who are non-binary.
Nunavut Day celebrates the creation of Nunavut as a recognized territory within Canada. Nunavut officially split from the Northwest Territories on April 1, 1999, but celebrations were moved to July 9 to commemorate the passage of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act and the Nunavut Act on July 9, 1993.
