  • Annual home smoke alarm campaign kicks off Starting June 26, uniformed firefighters from Waterloo Fire Rescue will be knocking on doors to kick off the annual Home Smoke Alarm Campaign. After being on pause since 2019, the program will resume this year with firefighters visiting 4,500 properties across Waterloo throughout the summer and into the fall.
  • Government of Canada funds two community revitalization projects A new uptown public washroom and much-needed window replacements at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery are two city revitalization projects receiving support from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). “Revitalizing community spaces, like the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, will help bring people together to enjoy local attractions while creating local economic growth,” said the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

  • Waterloo’s first accessible surface playground is fun for all thanks to OTF grant On Tuesday, local MPP Catherine Fife joined Mayor Dorothy McCabe and other City of Waterloo officials to open the new Eby Farm Playground in Waterloo Park. The playground is the first in the city to have an accessible rubberized surface, made possible by a $380,000 Community Building Fund - Capital stream grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
