  • Ontario easing further public health measures The Ontario government is continuing to ease public health measures across the Province with a gradual and cautious approach. The next phase will see measures easing on February 17, 2022 at 12:01 a.
  • A Message from the Regional Chair and the Mayors of Kitchener, Cambridge & Waterloo Local City Mayors, the Regional Chair and our CAOs, met with the Chief of Police and senior officers to be briefed about possible protests against COVID-19 restrictions across our region. Citizens always have the right to gather in peaceful protest, and we have seen many protests and marches in our cities over the past few years.
  • Snow event and parking ban to end at 9:00 p.m. tonight (Thursday) The snow event and parking ban declared by the City of Waterloo will end at 9:00 p.m.
  • Neighbours spread kindness across Waterloo Neighbours are an important source of day-to-day help and community connection, and their kindness continues to spread across Waterloo. Last year, the City of Waterloo neighbourhoods team launched the neighbourhood kindness campaign, to increase awareness of what it means to be a good neighbour, and to recognize people who do something great, big or small, in their neighbourhood.
  • Snow event and parking ban beginning at 9:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) The City of Waterloo has declared a snow event and an overnight parking ban is in effect beginning at 9:00 p.m.

  • Gradual reopening of Waterloo recreation facilities The City of Waterloo will begin to reopen recreation facilities following the province’s details of steps to gradually ease public health measures, starting Monday, January 31, 2022. Effective Monday, January 31, social gathering limits will be increased to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors, and City of Waterloo recreation facilities will reopen, at 50 per cent capacity: On Monday, January 31, our recreation facilities will reopen for indoor sport bookings On Monday, January 31, the free walking programs at RIM Park and the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Centre will reopen On Tuesday, February 1, aquatic leadership programs will resume On Thursday, February 10, pickleball and aquatic drop-in programs will resume During the week of February 14, additional drop-in programs will be added During the week of February 21, additional drop-in fitness programs will start Swim lessons will resume for the spring session, information on registration and start dates available on waterloo.
  • Ontario to cautiously and gradually ease public health measures The Ontario government has released details of a cautious and gradual easing of public health measures, starting on January 31, 2022. In the absence of concerning trends in public health and health care indicators, Ontario will follow a cautious and phased approach to lifting public health measures, with 21 days between each step.

The new additions are (listed alphabetically): Niran Akintunde (he/him), Anti-Racism & Social Justice Advocate; Brian Hill (he/him), Indigenous Initiatives Advocate; and Amy Ross (she/her), Accessibility Advocate.
