Fire Prevention Week 2020: October 4-10With Fire Prevention Week just around the corner, Waterloo Fire Rescue urges everyone in Waterloo to take some simple steps to prevent kitchen fires in their home. This year's theme of Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 4-10, is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen! ”
The theme is very timely as cooking fires continue to be the leading cause of home fires in Ontario.

Waterloo achieves platinum ISO standard, joins global network of cities in performance measurementThe City of Waterloo has achieved the highest certification - platinum - from the World Council on City Data (WCCD) for ISO 37120: Sustainable cities and communities - Indicators for city services and quality of life.
This international standard includes 104 indicators to measure and compare inclusive, sustainable, economically attractive and prosperous cities globally.
Lumen set to go for 2020 with Lumen LiteThe City of Waterloo's festival of light, art, and technology will take place later this month as Lumen Lite, an adapted version of the original event with physical distancing protocols in place.
This year's festival will be a smaller scale event with installations taking place outdoors only.
